Windows 7 "iPad"

....really?? Alright, I'll spell it out for you, find me a x86 or x64 based full fledged computer that does that. iPad runs on iOS...which comes from a phone...which is most certainly not what I think about when I say computer.

When I think Tablet, I think full fledged computer shrunk down to tablet form. Not an oversized phone. But then again thats just me.

I agree :good:

Define it however you want. iPad works, and it works very well.

I would buy a netbook for cheaper than this "tablet" and spare myself the lag...

;but it's ok, it looks cool.

I'd take one second of "rotate time" every time I wanted to rotate the thing instead of a non-proprietary OS.

The iPad works exactly like the iPhone, which to me is a huge letdown. Period. If I wanted a device like that I'd buy the damn phone. Unfortunately I don't like the OS at all, so I wouldn't buy either.

...Are you serious? Why in the world would a netbook be any quicker than this thing? THEY HAVE THE SAME INTERNALS. You're taking that video way too seriously. It's Windows..customizations can be made to make it quicker. Oh, and since it's x86 architecture, you have a lot of choices for your OS.

Who's upset? I just said your statement was ridiculous. Now your evading it with that rank steaming pile of a comment. I also edited my last post so maybe you will understand it better.

For what I use my ipad, it is a brilliant device, does everything I want, when I am on the go, or if I want to check email at night. Brilliant for watching video podcasts.
And the battery life on it is awesome. I think one of the reasons they delayed the first windows tablet was that it couldnt match the apple battery life, I guess they have now solved that problem.
If I want a fully fledged computer, those are the times I will use a desktop.
It is not like I am going to try and build a website, or update software from it or anything intensive like that.
The apps available on the ipad are great. Yes I know android is catching up.
Even the quality of the ipad with the aluminium back is excellent. Sure it is just a bigger iphone minus the camera, but that suits me fine.
If I wanted to do more complicated things on the go, I think a netbook/notebook with a full keyboard is a much better choice over a tablet.

I wouldn't say that this particular piece of technology is in the market to directly compete with an iPad. I think that this is an in-between.

The iPad is a fantastic and well built component. It does many things very very well. The downside to the iPad is the OS and what it offers as far as connections. It was built more as an entertainment device than a "computer."

This item isn't a notebook/netbook, but is closer to one than an iPad. This offers connections similar to a netbook (USB, VGA out, mic/headphone jacks). The product offers an iPad feel, but performs like a netbook. The price is a little too much in my opinion, but as lucasbytegenius said, some is novelty.

I apologize for the thread title, I really didn't mean for it to become a "vs. iPad" debacle.

Yay for you.

Here's what I meant, so you can hopefully understand:
Rather than spend $500 on a device that goes blank when rotated, and looks like it has poor touch functionality, I would save some money and buy a netbook, which would have neither of these issues.

For $500 I would buy an iPad.
They need no "customization" to get them to operate effectively.

Looks like it has poor touch functionality? Have you ever used one? That is like judging a book by its cover.
IT GOES BLANK FOR A COUPLE DANG SECONDS!!! And you can plug your own stupid keyboard into it if you want. Netbooks and tablets are different; you get a netbook if you so desire, and then the tablets are a second thought and usually the next toy that isn't used in place of the netbook all the time.

Really, dude, shape up. I don't want this thread closed anytime soon. Let's not turn it into a debate on whether the iPad or this Windows tablet is better, ok? It's starting to annoy me that you are so opinionated.
I will repeat what I said earlier:
IT'S A NOVELTY, A FULLY-FUNCTIONAL TOY IF YOU WILL, IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD IF THE IPAD IS OR ISN'T BETTER, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

The overlay looks awful, but the standard Win7 GUI does fine for touch and looks quite snappy on that. It has options to enlarge the buttons and whatnot.

Yes, YOU would. I wouldn't. Mainly for the fact of the lack of customization. This tablet I can go in depth and make it operate exactly how I want it. The iPad I cannot. The most insane crazy thing I can do on an iPad is jailbreak it and install a skin that changes my icons and such.

Yes, YOU would. I wouldn't.
I don't care what you would do, and why would you care what I would do?

Why are you so hard core to argue with me? There is no right or wrong here, just people discussing whether or not they like the product presented.

That's the beauty of an individual opinion, sir, so let's agree to leave it at that, shall we?

Thanks...

I'm not trying to argue with you. You're the one who came to this thread to bash on the product and you were the one that instead of letting it go had to defend the iPad to the death in this non iPad related thread, but I guess at least the misleading thread title could be a valid excuse.

Either way, this discussion is for people willing to constructively discuss this product, not compare it to an iPad because it's somewhat similar in looks. You can keep saying how much better the iPad is till your blue in the face, but in this topic it's wasted.

Maybe you should go back and recap what I said initially?

I came simply stating my opinion about the product in question.

After that, I was attacked.

This thread is not going to be closed.
Typing on a tablet is a real pain, and that is with a 9" tablet, I can only imagine it would be worse on a 7" tablet. There is no way I would want to use a tablet for serious work. But that is just my personal opinion.
Again it is an excellent device for browsing the internet, for watching videos on, for playing games on. It isn't buggy, the battery lasts for ages. Yes it is seriously flawed by the inability to install your own programs outside of the app store. I am not blind to its many faults.
But to call it a novelty and a toy is the most opinionated comment in the whole thread, and then you complain about others for being opinionated....
