Well, My E6300 @ stock does very well in games and I put it up to 2.4Ghz and I didn't notice a difference in the speed or the FPS, so what I will do is leave it @ stock for now, then when I need the extra, OC it then.

Yes I have it overclocked right now to 2.6 Ghz I cant go farther cause prime 95 comes up with errors and my memory is stock at 800 MHz and is now at 1000 MHz so I think it is my memory limiting me.

I haven't read up on my OCing material yet. I don't have the money to get a new CPU if I accidentally fry it. Besides, socket 939 CPUs aren't very common anymore.

Eventually I'll have enough money to replace both the CPU and mobo.

Nope not with the quad. Used to with the X2, but the quad was such an improvement I don't need to. When this feels slow, I will then turn it up. :D

I'm one of those "I don't, but I want to" people.

The "I don't" is due to a couple of reasons:
1. I just built my first PC, and since I've had Dell's before that, I couldn't OC my CPU.
2. Since I've never OC'd my CPU (only my vid card), I'm inexperienced and fear damaging my processor.
3. I have that feeling you get one something is brand new and you take REALLY good care of it. I don't want to harm my new PC in any way.

Things I would like to know before OC'in:
1. What are signs of instability - how do I know when I've pushed it too far? (Before it's too late).
2. What long term effects will OC'in have on my CPU and system?
3. Will my Rosewill RCX-Z300 be able to handle OC'in and if so, to what extent?
4. At what temp should my CPU be when idling? under load? (About 45c/60c?)

Until I feel confident, it is not worth the risk. I realize the immense potential and I know I must start with small OC's. I doubt I'll push my E4500 past 2.4ghz for now, despite its capabilities to pass 3.0ghz...
