it depends on what cores they are.Jiffyman said:Which processor do you think runs hotter AMD or Intel. I have heard from many people that amds run hotter and I have heard from many people that Intels run hotter.

only on the s478. And any aftermarket cooler will keep that under controlIntel's.... Prescott's are b*tches to keep cool.
Pretty sure most users will see temps above that.Well the new intel 630's run alot cooler at 29C idle with stock cooling.
Those two things are not directly linkedand the lower the clock speed, the less power consumption,
I know, i was just making 2 points about them having a lower clock speed and using less power, sorry for the confusion.apj101 said:Those two things are not directly linked

My comment was as i said just a note, it wasnt aimed as a rebuke to your comments geoffWhich is why i specifically said desktop cpu's, and left the Pentium M out of the list.
by what method are you measuring that, quite frankly i dont believe it to be accurateMy amd athlon 64 3000 run's at 25 degrees celcius at full load, and it's overclocked by 600mhz.I think it's the core, venice, which is known for it's low temperature operation
