NOT.
In the past I've been critical of the IPOD. Calling it trendy and cliquy and overpriced compared to it's competition.
Well for my birthday my girlf friend bought me an ipod shuffle. When I first got it I loved it. I held it in my hand, felt how light it was, how easy the buttons were to access and how well it fit with the arm band holder. I though, gee I was wrong about apple, they've changed.
Then I tried to use it.
After installing Itunes, I plugged the ipod in where itunes immediatly told me I needed to update it. So I updated it. After uploading some music to the ipod and playing with it, Itunes told me to update Itunes. After updating Itunes, I restarted and plugged the ipod back in. For no apparent reason, my ipod no longer mounted as a drive. Windows could see it, but not read or write to it. After 8 hours of uninstalling, reinstalling, tweaking the registry, manually starting and stopping services, and repeating on 3 different computers, I call apple. Through the broken english of their tech in India, they tell me my problem is normal and e-mail me the solution and hang up. I open the e-mail and it guidelines in vivid detail how to do everything I just did.
So being super pissed at this point, I gave up and went to bed. The next morning I woke up, went to my desktop and installed the latest itunes and the latest ipod updater (verbatum to what I did last night). I plug the ipod in and guess what? It's recognized. It tells me i need to update to the latest firmware, altho it already is running the latest firmware, so I just restore it back to factory in case the current firmware was corrupt. Since then, I tunes will recognize it and i can add music to it. However, the firmware updater will not recognize it and I have to restart the computer to safely unmount the ipod. I haven't plugged it back in to see if it will work again. I'm affraid it will lock up again.
Other then that, it works like a charm. I've taken it running a few times and it's great. Works as advertised. Just wish I could get it to work on my laptop....
So in short, yes I now own and use an Ipod, however I don't take back any trash I've talked about Ipod or any apple products in the past.
the only positive thing is that I rather like Itunes so far. It seems to be one of the better media library/player programs I've found.
