My Complete Gaming Build

Changed out monitor for a samsung.

Changed our logitech keyboard and mouse for razer products.

Went back to 40gb SSD after reading some bad reviews with the other SSD.

Changed out case for Haf 922. Will have to figure out if everything will fit into this case.

Also went with the V8 cooler. Have read some good reviews with using it while overclocking.

Saved myself about $300 with those changes.

Perhaps the motherboard gods can help me out with this next question. Do I "need" that motherboard? Would there be another motherboard out there that I should be considering?

that looks like a solid gaming computer! have fun :D. soon i will be updating my GPU to a 5970 unless i can figure out how to stabilize a GPU overclock

I approve of everything except the cooler. There are plenty of other options--namely, the Thermalright TRUE. You're going to want the extra cooling if you're going to overclock--it would be a shame to be limited on a system like that by your processor temperature.

Seconded, the V8 is overrated. The TRUE is one of the best coolers on the market.

Furthermore, check out Logitechs' G series keyboard and mice, they're not too shabby all things considered.

Thanks for the recommendation about the cooler.

Okay. Changed out that cooler. Also removed the sound card. Decided I simply didn't need a sound card.

If nothing else you can get an older one from eBay or something. Even a decade-old one will suit most people's purposes. I'm still using this...works great. You're right though, you should be fine with the onboard.

Have you seen any overheating issues with your overclocked 920 in that case with the V8? Just curious because I plan on going about the same route with overclocking. I'm hoping I might be able to get to around 3.8ghz with stable performance.

Sorry for the late reply, but better late the never.

For my needs, the V8 in the HAF 932 keeps my temps great at 3.4. I'm not sure what it'll be like round 3.8 but it should handle it. Maybe just put in a more power 120mm fan if need be.
