Can anyone give me a link to a Longhorn iso I could download? Ive looked on google but havent been able to find anything that works. thanx

you can only get hold of that if you're a member of microsoft's developer group or something like that. youhave to pay to be a member too.
the first port of call should be the microsoft website, if you cant get it from there, you're not meant to have it

o my bad. I was under the impression some of the betas were available for download and trial/testing purposes. guess not. thanx anyway guys

honestly it isn't anything special. just a lot more GUI than what you are used to seeing. basically it.

and if your planning on using it, you will have to wait a while because most hardwares/softwares out now will not run on it. probably because it is still in beta testing, our it just doesn't work on vista yet.

but you have the be an MSDN subscriber to be able to download it. and it requires a pretty powerful machine, if you have a great gaming rig, it'll probably run ok, if you just have a regualr machine, you'll probably be annoyed by the lag.

given all the added DRM supposedly going to happen, I dont see vista as an upgrade.........if your gonna insist on using windows, winXP is probably a better choice for quite awhile yet

so far, most of what was allegedly going to be in vista is still vaporware

lets see, 5-6 yrs since last release, at this rate, whatever comes after vista will take 10 yrs.......

and bill gates said all we were going to need is 64kb

you gotta bear in mind that was in the 16 bit era... we are now at the 64 bit ear where data is massive in comparison and we expect so much more from our systems.
i'd like to see anyone produce an operating system that can pack in all of the multimedia functions we expect from our systems and keep memory usage down to 64K

so if you bought Visual Studios you could get Vista?
No

are you aware that you just called windows vista illegal.....
Yes but that's playing semantics... luckily for me however the forum rules allow for my interpretation :)

That and the start bar got overhauled a bit (the default one at least)

You need to get a subscription in order to become a member of MSDN, buying Visual Studion will not automatically make you a member.

ok, here we go. there are ways to get versions of vista on the web (yes iso's) but i can't tell you how because this forum is honest and we all (i hope) pay for our software.

one thing you can do, if you just feel like the change, to look like vista is to dowload windoblinds, and run the longhorn (vista) template. that works for me :D
