call of duty 4 discussion thread

For those who have played it, who else found the final section of the Chernobyl level impossible? I mean it's so freakin' hard! Three dropships, endless waves of baddies, a chinook that takes FOREVER to arrive and only stays for 30 seconds before leaving!! Oh yeah and you have to carry your injured buddy out too. That was ridiculous. Took me at least thirty attempts before I completed it. And while I'm on the subject of frustration: WILD DOGS THAT KILL YOU WITH ONE BITE. I mean WTH. I have yet to succesfully shake them off, even after mashing the melee button like crazy. It's like they're mutant dogs or something. Who else bloody hates them?

Yes, that part took me about 6 attempts. I finally figured out that crouching behind the cement on the left helped me survive until the helicopter arrived. I tried going onto it and forgot McMillan, lol. I rushed back to him and tried to duck as I carried him back.

Your right about the dogs, I must have been killed 8 times throughout the game by those stupid German Shepards. I did manage to get a few with my knife before they got my neck though.

i was reading in the computer magaine i buy called "Computer active" and from a poll they done or something Many gaming fans found their powerfull Pcs could not handle the call of duty 4 demo at max and required most of them to upgrade .
is cod4 heavy on system resources then guys?
not that im planning running it on my current rig lol:D

See my system below in my sig. I ran this game at 1280 x 800 at FULL settings. It ran at a very playable frame rate throughout, with only a couple hitches.

just finished the mission where you give air support from the c130 using thermal imaging. ive seen videos like it before on the net and always found it fascinating. its like playing god almost

I just played it and loved the single player mission, I got to the mission after the nuke went off and its a pain. I played the multiplayer while it was fun it is no BF2 replacement. Any games coming out soon that is similar in concept to BF2?

Oooooh Yeeeaah! It's awesome isn't it! :D

COD4 is the greatest game right now.... better than HALO3 IMO. I just played it at my friends house. we were playing hole the night. and we are that lever where you are a Sniper and you have to shoot that old man from the balcony. It was amazing dude. Just amazing. The graphic rocks!
BTW I played it on xbox360 and 42" lcd tv. :O

SPOILER:

Who else cheered out loud after pwning Zakhaev? I was literally like: "this is for Gaz you slap-head SOB" *BANG* right between the eyes! It was like the perfect hollywood ending.

im with you 100% 12-gauge the ending rocked :D shame bout Gaz getting executed and i think captain price dies too.

I got some extra time to play multiplayer and while I still agree that it was fun in my previous post I wasn't too crazy about the weapons. I played as US Marines, SAS, Spetz Nats, and the Arabs. They all use the same base weapons. While the US uses authentic weapons the rest don't. Plus when you get the unlock you have to make your own class to use them, very annoying. I am still waiting for a true BF2 replacement, but I will continue to play COD 4 while waiting since it is something new.

I am still extremely impressed by the single player though.

You say that, but think how much worse it would be if the weapons were restricted. One team would have all the M4's and cool guns like that whilst the others are left with UZIs and AK47s.

I don't see the problem, I think it makes each fraction more unique and gives the game more replay value.

Got the game last night - played for a few minutes - I am very impressed only played single player so far but the game is intense!

The level was just too much for me. I tried to beat it 6-8 times in a row and got fed up with it. I am playing the game on hardened BTW.

I played the multiplayer even further and I had some fun with it now that I am getting used to the new weapons/maps. Only a few rooms exist that support 50 players but they are fun. I enjoyed the weapon upgrades and think this will make this game very fun in the coming months. Good multiplayer.

lol, I didn't find it too hard to be honest... took a few attempts!

I know what you mean with the dogs too, pain in the ass right! It's good when you go get them off and snap there neck, eh!

In the 10+ years I've gamed, Call of Duty 4 is hands-down the best video game I've ever played. Period.
