Your recommendations for placing the tower

at the moment ive got the tower in a desk built for a computer. It is at the bottom in its own box thing. Ive bought a new desk which is more like a table. I dont really like it being on the floor because of air circulation but im a bit skeptical about having it on the desk in case it blows again from the problems ive been having. Anyway the lowdown is that what are your recommendations. Should i put it on the carpet floor under the desk or on top of the desk. I want it to work as safe and good as possible and ive been told that having it on the floor could effect it working properly.

On top of the desk, it will generate more heat sitting on carpet or stuck inside a wooden desk.

What you need to do is keep space all around it for maximum air circulation. If you don't, the fans won't be able to move air properly. Putting it right on the floor can suck in a bit more dust than on a shelf or desktop... well, in MY house, that'd happen! Basically, you can't block any fans, grilles, or vents. Make sure any air that gets heated and exhausted isn't sucked right back into the case. Making sure you have room at the back is also good for getting at plugs and jacks.
Mine, for instance, sits on top of a book case.
