i dont know technically, but i do know that 64-bit allows you to take advantage of more then 3.xx gigs of ram. or 4.xx gb for vista?

Right now I'm using Vista Ultimate x86 on my laptop, but I was using Vista Home Business x64 on my desktop for almost a year.

Both 32 bit versions only show under 4GB, and the 64 bit versions let you see up to 128GB (except for Vista Home xx). There are lots of other differences as well, but I don't remember off the top of my head.

Interesting to find out what, the advantages of a 64 bit system? There are plenty of articles and resources online that explain the differences if you would like to know more.

im running Vista ultimate 32 bit at the moment,il probably be switching to Vista Ultimate x64 in a few weeks.

i heard its faster because in vista 64 bit your data will transfer in blocks of 64bit rather than 32bit.

my mate done a benchmark in 3d mark o6 on both 32 biy vista ultimate and 64 bit on the same system and the 64bit gave him higher marks each time.

this was his results

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64

Its does make a difference


this is nice to know,My system beats his 3d mark score in both 32 bit and 64 bit scores and he has a faster clock speed and a gig more memory lol.

3DMark06 isn't 64 bit AFAIK, so that has nothing to do with the difference. The only thing I can think of is that using the 64 bit OS, you see the entire 4GB of RAM, and the drivers may be a bit different.

I've got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ so I can run 64-bit programs, but I have XP home SP2. My mobo only supports 4GB of RAM anyway.
