i recently read in a magazine that they have already started working on windows 8 and that it will be a totally different file system that is supposed to give lots of advantages over ntfs does anyone know anymore about this if its definate and what the upsides could be.
 
They work on future OS's for years, I wouldn't be surprised if they are already planning for the OS after the next version. Not sure if it will be called Windows 8 or not though.

yeah they do work way ahead microsoft have a short term and long term projects divisions and are working on windows 8 in the short term division and the following windows (windows 9) in the long term division right now and microsoft have set a time gap of just 3 years between operating systems and if you notice office seems to follow the same 3 year pattern.
 
Oh man Windows 8 already :O?I am still on Windows XP lol...

Man Microsoft must be on some good drugs since they are making new products so fast:D
 
alot of people think 3 years is too quick, that they are always paying for the latest os, but i used the windows 7 trials and liked it so i pre ordered windows 7 before it came out and on pre order they were giving you the full version for £35 now even for every 3 years i think if you ordered early will its on cheap pre order price thats not much to pay every 3 years for the latest up to date operating system.

Sounds as if you're stating that WinFS was an OS, but it was not.

Not exactly. They were both part of the same project, started at the same time.

I am sticking with Windows XP of course.I would like to have Windows 7,but I must buy money first xD xD xD :D
Besides my laptop is about 7 years old and my big PC is about 8 years old.Now try just to imaginate how would Windows 7 work on it.It barely runs Windows XP hahaha!!!

yeah i think the minimum specs for 7 are the same as vista, although i did get windows 7 32 bit to run on an old machine with some old amd cpu running at 1.2ghz or summit and only had under 1gb ram and although i didnt run just as fast it did run not to bad.
 
They need to figure out a way to scrap the system 32 file system and do something completely different, so the virus issue can be all but gone.

Oh wait, Microsoft has their hands down all the anti-virus companies pants, so even if they changed it, us PC owners will still have malicious code problems.
 
Well when Windows Vista came out back in 2007,I read that Microsoft will make Windows 7 as a replacement for Windows Vista,but they also said that Windows 7 will be just a small part of what we can expect in the future operating system called Windows 8.

So...by reading that I realized that Windows 7 is crap if you compare it to Windows 8 lol.For now I can say that Windows 7 is really great,but who knows...maybe they said that for some reason.Maybe Windows 8 will be even better then Linux lol:D

Back in 2007 they also said that Windows 7 would contain 128-bit edition,but as far as I know there isn't one so I guess they will put that in Windows 8...

If those Microsoft's rumors are true,Windows 8 might be one of the best OS ever lol...

But hey...maybe that are just rumors...it IS Microsoft Windows after all xD xD xD:D:D:D

If windows 7 gets 128 bit or windows 8 is, that means 32-bit viruses (ie, almost all viruses) will not work under 128-bit versions.
 
viruses are always made on the most popular OS, thats how its gonna be. and microsoft has a team just for building the OSs constantly. making an OS isnt easy. :rolleyes:
 
although am i right in thinking even thoughs of us with modern 64 bit cpus will have to upgrade to 128 bit capable cpus.
 
^ most likely. though in 4 years, any of our cpus would be worthless. i'm sure i'll (and most people on here) want to upgrade by then anyways.

Yea well today there are more and more viruses so I am pretty sure that there are going to be tons of viruses for 128-bit edition lol...
