Why HP laptops are cheaper than Dell counterparts?

Hello All,

Below are the two configurations that I configured on Dell and HP site and price is about $1000.
I am not able to understand why HP provides much higher specs in $1000 than Dell. Is it that HP is compromising on something?

Can you post the links of the sites?
I don't think Dell with that configuration will be for 1k and I also don't think HP with that config could be for 1k.
 
HP compromise on their build quailty. One of the main areas is the cooling, they use cheap shi!tty fans that let the computer overheat.
Also, their customer service department is rubbish.
 
not just that, but they also charge you for repair under warranty (shipping and labor). Its an overall bad decision to get an HP.
 
Also HP is stepping away from the consumer PC market which could explain why it is cheaper.

That is the right answer for the thread I guess, I still can't think how the Dell config he posted is for 1k.
 
HP hasnt charged me for repair under warranty they had to send me a new hdd and I havent had a problem with over heating and as for customer service havent had a problem with it I have never had a problem with my HP since then
 
Your lucky. And they sent you a HDD? Where in that would they have time to charge you for labor. Der??
I know they charge labor under warranty. I have sent my G61 back for a motherboard replacement and LCD replacement and was charged labor on both. Parts on the LCD (but that was a accidental damage thing). Just because you get lucky with them dont mean that everyone is lucky with them.
 
They sent it to me for free because I gave them back the old hdd if you send back the old broken part you get the new part for free Grandpa used to do lots of business with them he owned and was Vice President of a company who made military engines for Jeeps, Tanks etc
 
Well a few of you have probably seen me go on about hp before so I'm going to leave it at this, hp is crap = fact of life. Compare it to ice cream, hp gives you the price of quality ice-cream like Ben and jerrys but what you get with it is the cheap no name ice cream you get from your local grocery store thats so bad it's not even real ice-cream it's frozen dessert, now that along with the overheating of hp = bad over priced pint of melted frozen dessert and when you call to complain they make you pay for the coupon they want to send you.
 
No one in my family have had problems with Hp's. MY wifes first computer was a HP that lasted 6+ years before the HDD gave out. My mom Hp laptop is currently going on four year old and my in laws Hp desktop is over 10 years old now. Hp has been good to my family but I would still not own one for the fact that it is not just Dell that is more expensive then Hp, it is just about every company. Dell builds some good stuff and if you look at the Dell XPS 15z you will see that it is about as expensive as a Mac computer (maybe a little less) due to the quality standards it has.
 
well maybe for now HP is good,they upgrade there rubbish CS then Call Back the Defect Laptop. they have a new CEO right? but for me I will not Purchased HP Laptop i have my experience in it too bad

Just because you don't have good luck with them doesn't mean every doesn't.

But the majority has bad luck with them, like idc the ****ing thing burnt my fingers idc what was wrong with it that should have not happened and I'm not saying it was hot and hurt and left big blisters on my hand Thats just not right

But it should to a company, a lot of people have had bad luck with Hp, in the last three years there sales have only declined. Look at Windows, Vista almost ruined them as a company when you look at how much growth Apple and Linux Flavors got to enjoy during those years. Unlike Hp though Windows learned there lesson and gave us Windows 7 (un-sure about windows 8 though) but the damage was still done. Hp has not changed one bit and like I said my family has had great luck with Hp but it still makes me wonder why they are so cheap. Look at Acer there cheap and I see a lot of Acer failure questions on here.
 
We are not saying that some people do not but numbers do not lie, Hp has some of the cheapest computers on the market and are still losing sales over the three years? They must have did something wrong which is usually because of poor products or poor customer service or even both.
 
I recently heard that Dell became the biggest manufacturer of laptops in the world, not sure whether it was a rumor. But my Dell's and HP's both have been performing epicly well. I picked up Dell just because of it's service. Once my friend screwed up his laptop by opening it and detaching the Bluetooth card. Then because of that his screen went of. Dell replace his Screen for free lol. But I do say its not free* they are priced quite high because the Complete cover accidental damage is included in price. :)
