Which is the best anti-virus software -- Avast or McAfee?

I always surf the internet. I am interested to know which is an useful anti-virus software, thereby providing better security.

Avast. the free ver will likely work fine. McAfee and Norton are hogs.

Out of the two given, Avast.

However, I would go with Microsoft Security Essentials.

I used to have Avast and it somehow tend to let malwares get in my system. That happened to me several times and took me long time to fix my system. Never using avast again! Ive had AVG and Malwarebytes for quite long time now and no issues at all. All up to you but with the experience I had I will not recommend using Avast.

For home - Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be fairly lightweight and I haven't got any viruses. It is also free.

For business - I prefer Sophos for its central management ability and good phone support.

I use to use AVG-and upon having a severe speed issue, came here (a while ago) and was told to use Microsoft Security Essentials. I have not had Speed Issues, Malware nor Viruses since.
