Which harddisk is the best?

I wanted to buy a 750GB internal harddisk and I found in the store I always buy computer stuff from him 3 kind of harddisks:
1-Western Digital Sata 750GB
2-Maxtor Sata 750GB
3-Samsung Sata 750GB
And I don't know which to buy or whats the best, and also I don't care about the price of them as long as it's the best.
So the Question is......
If you were me what would you pick?
One of my friend told me that harddisks from the best to worse is
1-Samsung Sata 750GB
2-Maxtor Sata 750GB
3-Western Digital Sata 750GB

And I want people who has experience in harddisks to tell me, and also I know there is better harddisks than these but I decided to buy one of these 3
Thanks in advance

You already had it right with seeing WD as best out of the three. Maxtors have always been on the crud list here. Samsung, Hitachi, and others are all new popup brands being seen at this time. WD and Seagate are the actual best two names to consider overall.

out of that list....western digital but i would see if theres a 750Gb drive from Seagate Barracuda in your price range ;)

What size and price range did you have in mind there? Prices for large capacity drives have taken a real nose dive in the last several months where you can find some good buys easy enough.

I would bypass the Maxtor. Samsung and Western Digital are both good drives. Seagate is a good brand too. Really depends on what model of drive you pick out of the three. And Hitachi and Samsung are (not) new pop up brands like you were told. Both has been around awhile. I would not recomend a Hitachi but Samsung are good drives.

Hitachi and Maxtor are both on the foobar list here alright! Samsung like I was pointing out is simply one of the newer brands now seen available but not hearing any particular complaints.

I'm also a little Skeptical on Fujitsu 15,000rpm drives now seen as well as some HP models at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...description=&Ntk=&SpeTabStoreType=&srchInDesc=

I would think HP would be the better choice while the higher speed is there to compete with WD Raptors. You have to have some rigid read/write heads once you bring up the rpms too high!

mmmmmm
that's really good answers, my friend said to me that sometime his 500GB WD harddisk does has some nasty sounds came from it.
I think i will go for samsung since i read people complains about maxtor harddisks

Samsung is a good reliable drive. W/D Black and RE are pretty good drives too. Plus like I said Samsung is not one of the newer brands, they been around along time.

What the hell does a bunch of HP and Fujitsu SCSI drives have to with this thread. Get on track PC eye, your drifting again!

With the 500gb MyBook Essential model here you wouldn't know it was on the desk here unless you just happened to notice the blue led scrolling light on the front of the casing. I can barely hear the fans in the 700w power supply let alone anything out of the external drive.

Your friend may have simply ended up with one seeing a defect and needed to be returned. Otherwise without any fans no sounds should be heard at all with just about any external drive. The casings generally see vents only.

If you can't hear the external drive you won't hear one inside the case itself unless it is seeing a problem of some type. And that's Essential not Exterior in the model name there if you ever read... a post thoroughly.

Is it me? Someone tell me if it is, but...huh?

I think pc eye is arguing that the western digital harddrive found in his external case makes very little noise.

This entire thread so far has been on what brand not which type of 750gb sata drive to start with. What I was pointing out there was simply that any noisey drive whether internal or external leads one to suspect a defect with the drive itself.

As far as the external drive you don't even feel any vibration while holding it and browsing the drive in Windows at the same time. Sometimes you can even forget it's even there since there is no sound ever heard just the blue led scrolling tab seen.

What else could it be suspect of, on any brand.

Thats like saying if you have a flat tire, it might not have any air in it.
