I recently got some cash.Would say something around $270.And considering the price difference in the computer stuff in India and in US that would make my purchasing power $170 - $180.

1.Sound Card (Asus Xonar DX (Suggestions welcome)) + Creative Aurvana Live(Suggestions Welcome) And getting a nicely priced GPU like the equivalent(price, not performance) of the HD6950/GTX 570 from the next line of GPUs.

2.Save for the next series of GPUs and getting the GTX 580/HD 6970 equivalent(Price, not performance) from the newer line GPUs.

3. Other Suggestions Welcome. :D

I am more inclined towards the first option.

I voted for the Soundcard I purchased one a while back a Creative Titanium XFX and it has been awesome even now while i am typing i am listening to clear perfect music from the Soundcard.

Looks like your waiting on the gpu either way.

3. SSD (of course :) )and sound card or headphones? Then the one you didn't get. Then the gpu.

Yeah I have to add that option on the poll.

SSD+ New Line of GPUs.

I most probably will be getting an SSD :D.
And will also be saving up for new line of soundcards.

So my question is should I get a PCI SATA 3 Controller and then a SATA III SSD or should I just get the SATA II SSD?
And also I figure 60-64GB would be enough.Any recommendations?

I say buy a nice pair of headphones before you shell out for a sound card. The new headphones will be a bigger improvement than a new sound card and shitty speakers / headphones.

Here is what I am looking at
SATA III + Controller

CONTROLLER

SSD Option1

SSD Option2

SSD Option3

If go for the soundcard and headphone thing then I have enough cash to get both of them together.
But anyways which headphones would you recommend for $80 max.
From Aastii's review I was thinking about the creative Aurvana live.

specs of monitor you're running? just curious as it's not in your sig and may be worth placing in the save up category.

I recently bought a new monitor.
LG E2360v Full HD Resolution LED Backlit and 60Hz Refresh Rate and 5ms Response time.

Will put them in the sig.

And can you edit the poll and add "SSD+New Line Of GPU"

ok you're good there it seems

done

Thanks.
And it is a pretty sweet monitor, but my GPU sometimes slacks off while playing newer games on it

But I can survive with my GPU till the next line of GPUs.

I would go for a SSD. Dont know what Video cards cost in India, but 170/180 bucks, its like a 6870 here. The Same amount for a SSD you could get a nice 120gb. GSkill/OCZ/Corsair/Mushkin SSD

Right, I would say a GPU upgrade would make sense, so long as you're playing the games that require it. i'm a little out of the loop in hardware nowadays though.

Anyways I was not planning to get a GPU from the current NVIDIA/AMD line.
I can comfortably use my GPU till the next line of AMD/NVIDIA GPUs.

Anyways from the SSD prices here I can only afford a 60-64Gb SSD SATA III.
And I will be getting a SATA III Controller Card.

Jan 2012.
I can drag this GPU till then. :D

OK,,, I see that some users report random BSOD and freezes with that latest Sandforce 2xxx series controller. The 2281 and I believe the 2100. It's the controller manuf's are using to get Sata III.

Check out the user feedback over at OCZ SSD forum.

The Sata II is still a big difference compared to a HDD, if you decide to go that way.
It's mostly the small (4k) reads that give us the visual speed.

So what do you suggest a SATA III or a SATA II, since I was looking forward to getting a SATA III controller anyways since it is a part of the whole futureproofing thing.
