What is a good sound card?

I'm looking at choosing a sound card either from the creative range or the asus zonar range, i was just wondering which are good cards from these?

I know some people are gonna get fired up with this but all after market cards sound the same. Most of them sound the same as onboard sound cards do. What you are paying for is features and channels.

Sound cards are only really worth it if you have good speakers or dreadful on-board sound.
