I chose newegg, but only because their customer service is very helpful most of the time, and the prices are hard to beat.

Otherwise I would choose Circuit City, since they're local and have pretty good sales from time to time.

Best online store would be Newegg, and the best actual store would either be Circuit City or Best Buy.

Newegg rocks! I have had to return a couple of parts and they never gave me any trouble. I just explained what was wrong and they had me send it back.

95% of the time Newegg is cheaper than anyone else. First rate customer service and an easy to search website. What's not to love!

Fry's is ok for small things like connectors or soldering irons, but otherwise I stay out of there. Their return policy sucks, and the people that work there are either rude or clueless, or both. Plus they are always so crowded.

Circuit city is a joke!

Best buy is one step above Circuit City.

Compusa is ok for some things, but since they started selling T.V's and the like, I have pretty much quit going.

Otherwise I go to the small mom and pop computer stores. I have 4 of them very close to where I live, and the people there know what they are doing and they are very helpful. But they tend to be a bit expensive on their prices. But when I need a part NOW, they are close.

I'm not crazy about buying online; if a piece of gear goes south within a return privilege period, I don't want to futz with the Post Office or United Package Smashers. I want to return or exchange it right now!
I bought a sound card, a printer, and a video card all at Staples. CompUSA sold me a hard drive.
Staples' return and price matching policy have enabled me to get parts just as cheap as online, plus the store is only 10 minutes away. I've never had a problem with anything I've bought from them.
I no longer set foot in Circuit City. They advertise specials and have you jump through rebate hoops or never have the items in stock.
Best Buy is in a mall here, and it's a real PITA to get to.
Compusa is pretty good, just kinda far for a quick trip.

In every store, though, I've noticed that the sales clerks know less than I do... and Lord knows I'm no IT genius.

I feel the same way, its just so darn expensive to buy in a ratail store

I have only ever returned one thing to Newegg and that was a HDD cause I bought IDE instead of SATA. Dumb mistake on my part.

best buy makes me want to barf. i take comfort in the fact that i can find everything in the store for cheaper on the internet (newegg, meritline, ect). everything is so expensive at best buy...

all hail newegg!

I like to go to best buy and sit in their Tv whatever section and sit the comfy sofas and watch the huge plasma tvs :P thats about it.

online = newegg
offline = Best Buy (I hate best buy, but its the only electronics store around me that carries a lot of stuff)

online is newegg, but store i MUST say fry's. It has got to be the biggest store i ever been in! so big they have a restoront inside it! the prices and service are great!

well im in canada so ncix/directcanada

its canada's newegg, they are sister companies so whichever is cheaper
