what does RAM-KIT mean?

hi guys..!
what is the defference between 2 normal RAM modules @ 512MB, and a kit of 2X512MB??
when I buy 2 RAMs without the KIT, will it be able to deliver the same abilities as the KITs?
do we have to buy the KITs if we want to install 2 same RAM modules?

Its best to install ram in two matching pairs in order to take advantage of dual channel. Hence the "kits" they are basically just two sticks that are identical.

No different to buying two identical pieces seprately though :)
