vista loading up slow.

My vista takes it time to load on the start where it says Microsoft corporation apart from that everything is ok anyone know how i can make it load faster it never used to take this long to load but since yesterday its loading pretty slow ? any ideas
 
I have over 100 services and 18 apps. I suspect if this is even it that not amount but a certain one?

But the fact this is new or recent? Have you changed or done anything? Did you play with the boot advanced on another thread I saw?

well yes the number off processors with was set on was 1 so i changed it to 4 i dont think this should slow it down should make it faster. what you think ? done the usual disk defrag cleaned up the pc abit and thats about it ?

That is what is happening. I guarantee 100%

I decided to stop posting on that thread as I was a little bit wrong. Felt like why over explain and felt a little stupid. But since you now suffer from the effects of the others incorrect advice here I go. If you showed 1 but the box was not checked you were doing the default, all your cores. OK so why does it have that box? It is for developers to reduce the number of cores not to increase performance.

Here is your problem. You have Hyper Threading so you need to set to 8. But what you really need to do just uncheck the damn box. That will solve your issue. Showing 1 when box is unchecked lets W7 do it.

Good luck.

Edit these people who say they boot faster checked that box they should of just left alone.

thanks buddy for explaining so what you saying is put it back to 1 ? but the pc has started faster abit lol or shell i just untick the box ?
 
Uncheck the box. But setting at 8 should be the same? But just uncheck the box. You should have never been playing with that setting. There is/was some bad information going around. Which does happen sometimes. If you want some validation/confirmation look at this, link, read the 2nd box. But hey we learned something.

Hi thank buddy for the information ive gone at set the settings how they where first processor 1 not 4 and maximum ram :) whats your settings on ?
