USBs not working

Hi,

For some time now my computer has been giving me problems. But for now, my USB ports aren't working. I'm also pretty sure that my ethernet controller isn't working either, because it doesn't light up in the back. I've already looked in the BIOS and it shows that it's enabled. I really don't know much about computers so I have done everything I know how to do. Can anyone help me out?
 
All the devices are enabled, and no not all of them are up to date. I was going to download the newer drivers but I can't use my mouse and keyboard.
 
That does sound like a driver problem it wouldn't hurt to try a system restore too if this problem came up recently. Was there anything that you installed/uninstalled right before the problem started?
 
I installed iTunes right before it got messed up, and I think Safari was installed as well. Could that have been a problem, since Safari is for macs?
 
Safari isn't for Macs only. You can't install the OS X version of Safari on Windows either... Apple is the developer of Safari, but they make a Windows version. I doubt that either of those programs would cause you to lose your USB functionality, but it wouldn't hurt to try a system restore to a point prior to that.

Do you have any PS2 ports on your motherboard and a PS2 keyboard or mouse? Also, have you tried unplugging and then re-plugging the USB peripherals after Windows boots? Do you get any indication (audible) that a device was plugged in?
 
I do have a PS2 mouse and when I plug that in it still doesn't work. Even if I plug it in then replug it in, it doesn't even show that it was plugged in. Also, the Ethernet cable is plugged in too, yet it still shows no connectivity.
 
that happens to me alot if i leave the computer for so lnog the internet wont work and we turn of the PC off a while and then it will come back on but that might a different thing what you are having issues with.
 
Yes, thank you! it worked. Now all I have to do is download these drivers and hopefully this will work. If I have any more problems I'll let you know.
 
Ok, PS2 mouse works fine but the USB keyboard is freaking out and my internet isn't working. I had to disable and enable my ethernet again, then just enable my usbs but it's not working. Any thoughts?
