thermaltake psu

I have used many Thermaltake power supplies and have yet to have an issue.

I believe the issue with most power supplies would be loading them to their max rated wattage and expecting them to perform. It simply doesnt work that way and you need some headroom otherwise the thing will just burn out.

Think of it this way. your engine on your new BMW has a redline of 6000 RPM.... if you leave it in park and slam the gas the rev limiter will keep it close to the danger area. but eventually the motor will blow up. when that happens you cant really blame BMW or the engine. You just need to know what it can or cannot handle.

what are you looking to power in that system of yours that may help better determine what PSU will match your setup.

First - Do you really need a 700W PSU,you will not need a 700W PSU until and unless you are running Multi-GPU Configs. If you are running one then ok otherwise a 550W PSU of brands like Antec/Corsair/Seasonic/Silverstone/PC pOwer and Cooling/XFX will suffice.

Second - I put m trust in thermaltake thinking that it is a good brand but I was disappointed,my PSU did not even last 2 year. It lasted almost for 1.5 Years.
So I would say stay away from thermaltake. There are worse brands than thermaltake, but thermaltake cannot be categorised in the best brands category.

But before I suggest I would like if you could post your config and we can tell you whether you really need a 700W PSU or not.

Since you want a modular PSU I found these two PSUs

and
$110 after rebate but a great unit

Did you contact them for RMA? Thermaltake PSU's have a really good warranty from what ive read.

I think one failure does not categorize them as a bad company. Parts can always fail even out of the box I had an intel CPU DOA... and I still use them. I had a PC power & cooling 1200W that was bad after less than 3 months.

all in all Thermaltake PSU's have been great for me so I guess its a matter of real world numbers and cost.

I understand being sour about a bad unit, knowone likes to take their rig apart but a failure doesnt constitute a bad product just something went wrong.

I was wondering what you all think about thermaltake psus are they any good or are they mostly crap? I am looking for a good 700w modular supply and my local best buy has a thermaltake for like $100 so im just checking before I buy. Also they have a

it looks bad a** and was wondering if anyone has tried it out b4.

I would go with another cooler.

Depends on what model of Thermaltake your talking about. Thermaltake are one of those companies you have to watch which model you get. Some are made by HEC and are junk.

I did contact them about it and they were like they can give me a 1000W unit instead but I would have to pay the difference. :D

Yeah true it is not right dumping one company by just one bad experience but thermaltake does not make the best units, but they aren't the worst either.
But since the PSU also took my Motherboard and my DVD-Burner with it so ...

Also the units which I posted would be a better way to go compared to thermaltake.
