Steve Jobs Resigns

Thoughts?

I'm happy to see what appears to be a painless transition for the company. They put a lot of care into the timing of this announcement, even though it's probably been some time since he's actually ran the company day-to-day. People should remember that Jobs came back to Apple when the company was all but bankrupt. Now, in only a little over a decade, it's the second largest company in the world, when measured by market share, and they're sitting on $70+ billion in cash.

Steve Jobs owns, in other words. And yeah, he's still the chairman, so he's far from out of the picture.

For someone who spent the first 10 or so years of my computing life on an Apple machine, it is sad to know he is stepping down. He has done so much for this industry and in a sense making it possible for us (most people on this and every forum) to be able to customize and make our own pcs. Apple computers are expensive because its a business and they can sell them to people who will dispose of them in a year and get another. Not everyone of course as I have close friends who own an Apple authorized reseller and service store and are very passionate about Apple, not just the popularity of it. Good luck Steve! Pirates!
