Terrible customer service that tries to weedle you out of your money and charge you out the ass for things it shouldn't. That's just my impression from reddit, which surely is exaggerated. I don't have it here so have no idea what it's actually like.

Their customer service is awful. They call me several times a month trying to get me to use their phone service. The thing is, they usually call around 9 or 10PM.
He works for a University now. When you have a 15,000 count student body, plus all the faculty and staff all accessing the internet at once, you need that kind of speed.
This is what I get at Central in my dorm. You're most likely connected directly to the trunk or something.

I work for UNH, which besides having tens of thousands of students and faculty, is also the center for their New Hampshire-wide fiber network, which provides 10Gb/s links to other universities all over the state. This site has a direct link into Boston to tier 1 ISPs. I don't know the connection speed into the backbone of the internet, but I'd venture a guess that it's in the 40-100Gb/s range at least. I'd assume that in the dorms, like at your school, they limit the max throughput for students. Either that or your school was still on 100Mbps linksHe works for a University now. The limiting factor is clearly the 1Gbps connection to my laptop, I'm sure if I was able to connect at 10Gbps I'd see a much higher speed

Looks like they started throttling those free 500 MB/mo Freedompop sticks a little bit more..
That doesn't surprise me for "free" internet.

Yes it's at home. No recent upgrades. The modem was replaced a few months ago with a newer one. I haven't done any direct modem tests, nor do I know specifically what we pay for. But the speeds are good and there's no issues streaming Netflix to multiple devices at the same time.Is that your entire WAN package?

Yeah the upload sucks, but I can live with it.
Brought home a Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC to trial for my father. If he's happy with it he'll order one for the house.
