Show off your speed

Just got back from the Mall of New Hampshire, cell service used to be horrible but they must have very recently installed a DAS for Verizon, as I get full service in the entire mall now.

Not my fault you have crappy ISP's out there :P

UVerse really isn't that bad. They just have really crappy speeds in their lower price range. And my parents are REALLY cheap.

If we paid 10 more a month we'd triple our speed to 18mbps. Uverse even has 45mbps. I have some friends in an apartment a few miles away that get well over 100mbps down, not sure the exact number.

Remember how my speed was fluctuating a while back? Found out my modem is failing... 2 years and *poof*... It was a cheap model too.

Well, my Comcast bill jumped up from $90 to $115, so I've been debating getting rid of them and using my Verizon phone as a hotspot instead. I used it for a few hours today and gamed for 2 hours, ping was around 50-75 on the server I usually play on, and this was a speed test.

It's funny to think back in the late 80's, early 90's, going from a modem that was 14.4k to 28.8K was screaming fast.. Then going from 28.8K to 56K was equally amazing, and considered to be blazin fast, haha..
Come a long way in last 30 years.

Haha no kidding.

3 mbit cable modem was fricking amazing! Now connections are fast enough nobody cares about or misses a 3 mbit swing.

Good news! After I called Comcast because my promotional price of $90/mo for 150/20 internet was up (it went back to $115/mo), I told them I wanted to cancel and they offered me 6 more months at the current promo price of $80/mo!

I already have a second wireless router setup though for when I do have to cancel, this way the second router connects to my phones hotspot, and the rest of my LAN can function just as before. My Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, laptops, NAS, etc. all connect to a swith which goes through a Ubiquity Edge router, so I just swap the WAN connection between my modem and second router.

I need to do that myself today. My contract expired last month.

Looks like I can get 100/100mbps for $50/mo. w 2/yr agreement, or keep 30/30 for $35/mo. That's a HUGE increase for only $15 more, although I don't really need that fast of a connection. What do you think?

I'd do it, even if you don't see a real need to know it just makes downloads 3x faster.

Rocking the ERL? Their routers easily have the best cost/performance with enterprise features.
Yup, loving it. Took a few hours to learn how to configure it when I first got it, but I love the features it has. So much better than those residential router combo units. I'm using the third interface for my guest network on a separate VLAN, connected to a Ubiquity UniFi AP-LR.

Just had AT&T upgrade my DSL this morning. Went from an old Siemens SpeedStream 4100 to an Arris NVG510. My speed was upgraded from 3 to 12 MBPS, but I have a maximum of 24MBPS.
