Radeon 7970 reviews!!!!

If the prices are right, over here that will put it below the 580 and below some of the pre-overclocked, custom cooler 6970's...for an increase in performance, and that includes a mark up as things are more expensive here

Someone IS a fanboy though :P

I hope AMD has a kickass cheap and chearful (something like the 8800GT), that gets kickass frames, and crossfires like a mofo.

hardly. I had crossfire hd5770's if you remember ;)

And all of the facts i quoted can be substantiated regardless.

I'm not saying the card is bad, but based on limited results its medicore. As usual.

But will it be anything more than a slightly less power for the same outcome? I am not as excited as i want to be.

Come on, the 7970 kicks the 580 butt with prereleased drivers on less wattage. Will even get better with newer drivers. I have read the 7970 will run around 550 bucks in the US, the 580 sells for from 480 to over 600 bucks, so you price vs. price doesnt add up. Plus the 7970 price will probably go down some a few weeks after release and even run better with newer drivers. The fact is its beats the 580 overall by more then 20%, even matches the 6990 and 590 in a few. The 7950 will probably match the 580.

I agree on the thing that its 20% faster than 580, but the main thing should not be that 7970 just being faster than 500 series, it should be = or > than 600 series. It is crazy we are going on the way 5xx vs 7xxx. That just makes Nvidia cards superior? its like old vs new still many say old>new and also many the opposite.

Well Nvidia needs to get off there butt and come out with the 600 series or release some benchmarks with it. Cant compare to something that doesnt exist yet. How does it make Nvidia look better, its beats there glory bound 580 by more then 20% overall. Plus I'm not claiming to will beat the 600 series, who knows!

forgetting how they aren't at all, what you said is like saying it would be pointless to know bulldozer is better than sandy with ivy so close

Because 580 is more than a year old than 7970. Gaming at 1080p both are neck to neck, but 7970 has upper hand at higher resolutions. Lets wait and see how 600 series performs.

Why?

The 600 series is looking to be just a die shrink of some 500-series GPUs to test and work out problems on 28nm, so they're presumably really only going to be a stopgap product and there's a good chance they'll only release low-end/mid-range cards (I honestly don't think NV is going to be jumping on a new process with a ginormous high-end die again, they already made that mistake once). In any event, they won't be out for another couple of months. Real competition form NV is going to be the Kepler (7xx) but those are still half a year away, so that's hardly a fair comparison... you might as well argue that AMD is the best because whatever GPU they're going to have by the beginning of 2013 is most likely going to beat the 700-series.

Iv read on a few forums, that keplar is going to be 600 series, i likewise could be wrong. Some one should be along soon to enlighten us :P

But then you look at the guru3d link, and they're at 1125mhz with no voltage change, and at the limit of the frequency slider. When MSI Afterburner get their stuff together and release an updated version, I think we'll start to see some insane performance gains.
