PSU Failure maybe?

My grandpa said his computer just shut off automatically and cannot turn it back on. I'm going to take a look at it this weekend but I think it could be PSU failure. It could be something simple like the power cord got unplugged but who knows.

Besides checking the power cord and internal connections you may want to bring an extra supply if that is what quit. If all connections and plug are found good and installing the spare fails to see results look for any drives lighting up along with any audio beeps and any errors messages on the screen. A cpu or chipset failure would be likely if the supply was found good.

Ok got an update. He said his computer turns on for about 20 seconds then shuts off. He went back to it later and it didn't turn on at all.

That's a good indication of one of three things there. Something is cooking right away and probably pulling the power right down. Did you try another supply in there to see if the other was toast?

Well I didn't get a chance to take a look at it because he sent away to get looked which I told him it was bad idea. So I guess it's not my problem anymore.

If it went to a reputable service center or independent it would be out of your hands. It will up to them to guarantee their work. They would also be equipped to run full diagnostics in order to determine the actual problem as well as install new hardware. It's still his choice to make on his own property.
