PSU Connectors(?)

I purchased a Corsair CX600 PSU as an upgrade to the cheap Logisys PSU (PS480X2) in my home office desktop. That PC has a MSI G41M-P23 motherboard.

I started to swap the PSUs this morning and ran into a problem right away. The mb has a 4-pin connector (JPW2) used to provide power to the CPU, and the Logisys PSU has a 4-pin plug to fit. However, the CX600 has no such 4-pin plug. There are a couple of 6-pin plugs, but they won't fit.

Suggestions?

LOL, easy mistake. The 6 pin CPU connector separates to a 4 pin CPU connector similar to below. Just pull (slide) it apart.

The 6 pin connectors are for video cards. There will be an 8 pin connector that splits into 2 - 4 pin connectors.

true. Been along time since ive used 4 pin cpu connectors. either way it splits apart in the same fashion. OP, second one down is your one.

OK, found that and now have two 4-pin plugs. Does it matter which is plugged into the mb?

no, but i always use the one that isnt the split.

Installing the new PSU took just a few minutes. It is noticeably quieter than the Logisys unit. Hopefully this should address some of the random shutdown/reboot issues I've had with this system for several months!
