ive got a 230W power supply from a old computer and id like to put it in a good computer (id like to play games, lots of ram, big harddrive, dvd burner) all the normal stuff but i dont need the 31/2 floppy drive.
Will a 230 watt power supply do the trick?
thanks

Would need to know more information such as what video card (if any), CPU, etc.

wellim builindg this one step at a time so i am not positive about averything but id like to run 3+ghz and id like a Nvideo 256mb card probly a 6500. umm hardrive would be no bigger than a 200gb, and the dvd burner would probly be dual layer, i might hook up a second drive(not to burn just for reading) thats all the power needing things i can think of

Though you might be able to get away with it, it would probably not be advisable. You should probably look to get a bigger power supply or else you might have random reboots and other problems.

NO, you don't want to put that into a computer that would have the components that you are describing. A 230W PSU would be passable for a basic computer (smaller hard drive, one optical drive, no GPU power needs...), as for buying a new PSU, look for a minimum of 400W, but 450W would be preferred (as a basic requirement to look for).
