Power Supply

Yesterday, all the parts for my computer arrived but unfortunately I did not have enough money to buy a new PSU.

Basically, I was wondering if the case PSU will run it..

AMD Athlon 3000+
256mb nVidia Geforce graphics card
160gb Barracuda
Cheap sound card

It only has 12A on the 12V rail,
20A on the 3.3V and
25A on the 5V.

I won't be playing any strenuous FPS's, maybe an old game here and there, but nothing that'll anywhere near push the specs.

EDIT: Also, is there some sort of option to decrease the speed the graphics and processor run at, to reduce strain on the PSU?

Thanks in advance.

The above is quoted from newegg.com

True.
I kinda knew that, but I was wondering if I could reduce the power usage of the GPU somehow?

Also, recommended requirements - I don't really trust them, they overrate the needs so as not to leave themselves liable..

Besides, I don't need the PSU to last a year or anything, just a few months..

Underclock the processor? He is going to be using the processor more than the GPU!

I suggest just buying a small GPU and sell your 7600. Or you could just save up and buy a PSU, they arn't that expensive.

OK, fair enough.
Is there no way to weaken the graphics card or anything?
I don't know, say, half the power of it or something in the BIOS?

EDIT : Also, is the power consuption dependent on what is being done? As in, would the CPU need more power when it was playing a game than just idling, or is the power consumption constant?

Thanks.

There is a way to underclock the gpu from with in the driver settings.

Yes, the power consumption is dynamic. The more loaded the pc is, the more power it requires.

OK, thank you all.
I finally decided just to buy a new PSU.
Dual 12V. 16 and 18A :D
Thanks for all the help!
