Power supply problem?

Well, I built my computer a while ago. When I built it I was on a pretty tight budget, There were a few parts I decided I would buy pretty cheap versions of until I could afford an upgrade. One of those was the PSU... My computer runs fine and everything and I don't have any issues unless I play certain games. When I play flight sims or games like Warcraft My computer sometimes will randomly just shut down. It doesn't always do it, but i noticed it happening a lot more after I installed my new HDD.

I'm running Athlon 64 3200, 512 ram, couple cd/dvd drives, 60gig and 250 gig HDDs, ... and the PSU is 500w w/15a on the +12v made by atrix

The only other thing I think it would be is CPU overheating and the BIOs thing turning it off. But The idle is about 28c and it starts right back up after it shuts down.
What do you guys think?

Alright, well it's gonna be a little while before I have some money for a new one. That new hard drive took most of my cash. I'll just hold off on the games and stuff until then though.
Would I be able to get a good enough one for say about $60-70?

Hi,

The power supply you have listed is definitely not up to the job you are asking it to do. You need to have many more amps on the +12 rail.
Take a look at a very miniimum of a 500 watt supply of a good brand name. I think that NewEgg.com has probably Enermax or Antec suppies in the (better power supplies IMHO) in the 500 watt size that is in that price range. Go take a look.

Side Note: When buying the Antec supplies stay away from the NEO model supplies if you have an Asus motherboard.

Alright, that Antec one looks a like a pretty good deal with the dual 12Vs. I'll probably end up going with that one.

Thanks for all the help. Much appreciated
