Poll: which mouse should I buy

I just read some reviews on the MX1000 and the Razer Diamondback. Both seem to be very promising mouses. I would get the Razer if you are a heavy gamer or the MX1000 if your a regular user, that surfs the web and plays some games and stuff like that, but I have yet to try them out.
MX510 is a solid mouse even though I hate the button configuration (nothign like stupid buttons you wont ever use)
The MX1000 which im using right now, when it works, it works brilliantly ... but there can be sporadic periods of raw stupidity. Also, i find SetPoint works a bit more reliably (for its age at least) than Mouseware. Battery life is pretty decent (~50hours straight usage ... as determined by empirical methods)
Razor mouse is a nice mouse too but it too suffers from stupid-mouse-button syndrome.
From a raw precision standpoint the MX1000 is superior regardless of whatever MaxPC says (stupid MaxPC grumble grumble) .... the Razor has about 2.56MP which is damned impressive next to the 640KP of the MX510 but nothing next to the 5.1MP on the MX1000
Personally id recommend the MX1000 .... the only flaw in it is the ocasional driver stupidity but it will get better with time

I'd buy razer mouse. M friend has one of there older models and i still like it alot.
but personally, i'll never use a wireless mouse. batteries = no for me. and just weird problems sometimes occur. my mom sister and dad all bought microsoft wireless mouses. all 3 are in the trash after a few months...they jsut don't work. quite odd.

I mave a Mx 700 and never any problems with anything. Just perfect perfection . Wireless is the way to go and batteries are no problem as the mx 1000 (and 700) both have "cradles" that rechage and I am pretty sure they recharge faster than the mouse uses power (after ~ 3 hours of gaming it takes about 1 hour to charge).

Even then you can get "oh-crap-i-need-battery-power-now-cuz-i-have-enemy-tanks-rolling-in-my-base" charge in a few minutes

I guess the "down time" depends on your tolerance ... out of the box the MX1000 can get a full charge in about 10 minutes however a normall full charge takes a few hours ... of course if you're in the middle of a game and just "cant" stop, letting the charger cycle for 3 passes (~15 seconds) will give about 4 minutes of play at a time

One last question on the mx1000. I been told if you pick up the mouse when you put it back down there about a 1 secound delay before it start working again. While this not a big deal since I dont pick up my mouse very often. I bought a big mouse pad to avoid having to pick up my mouse. Just curious if people that use the mouse finds this annoying in anyway while playing video games because sometime it cant be avoided picking up the mouse.

Yeah i know ... its just that ive not encountered lag as described as such for a loong time ... back to first gen wireless mice even...
As for MS mice, i like them actually ... esepcially the way they only need 1 battery (and last as long as 2 battery Logitechs at the time) but you can still pop two in .... so we know MaximumPC was biased as hell when they said they werent sure about the battery life of Microsoft mice ....

I've always used logitech mice and I love them. Now just the other day I bought a Microsoft wireless optical mouse Special Ed. (silver & black version) and I love it! it works great and the response is excellent. I do play games, especialy first person shooters and I dont have one gripe with this mouse what so ever.
Also I just wanted to add that I'll never use another corded mouse again!
dragging a cord around and getting cought in my speakers and coffee mug and such just sux ars. I've read that this particuler mouse should last 6 months with the batteries where most mice last about 3 months. I'm not sure if there is any truth in this but even every 2 months is no big deal for me to get rid of that darn cord.

Many people who bought the MX1000 from the newegg (and reviewed it) said that they experienced lag. Thats where I heard it from. But I don't believe that is Newegg's problem, maybe driver, or the mouse itself.
Oh yea, theres going to be a Logitech MX3100 coming out, laser mouse combo with a wireless kb. I'm thinking of getting that one.

first, all these people who say the mx1000 lag and stuff are wrong, there is no lag, BUT the distance that it will work from the surface is large, by this i mean you can hold it up and it will work at a greater distance from the surface than optical (mx1000 uses a laser)
this causes you to have to pick it up higher to prevent it from moving when you (if you pick it up)
i hope i explained it good enough to understand
second, i find the Mx1000 to be VERY uncomfortable, i dont know why, i recomend going to a computer store and trying it out before buying it, and save the packaging so you can return it if you want.
