since my motherboard only supports socket 478 processors, im planning to upgrade my motherboard and processor. im worried that my psu wont be able to support the new processor and motherboard.

i have currently have :

768MB or RAM
2 hard drives
2 optical devices
P4 1.7Ghz
Gigabyte Titan GA-8SIMLP motherboard
geforce mx420
and a PCI USB 2.0 card

320W PSU

I would buy a new 500watt PSU, as you will probably upgrade in the future, and 500 is good for most anything.

If the mobo uses the latest Intel, or AMD processers, Eg, 64 bit or duel core. You may need a larger PSU.

Also if it supports DDR2 that uses more power, also the GPU could use alot of power.

As Burgerbob said i would also go for a 500watt, even if its not required at the moment its better to future proof yourself :)

lets see the psu's link.
also, what proc and mobo? are you getting a new video card?
i just replaced my 7800gt with a 7900gtx and my psu won't handle my overclock lol..
its all good though i plan on getting the OCZ 700watt gamexstream psu. (4 12V rails! each 18A!! :D)
(currently running default cpu clock)
if you're getting a new GFX card then tell us which one. 6600gt might not require above 320watts... then again, the psu might have a low amperage rating.
if i got a new one for a low powered system id get this though.

500 watts, two 12v rails each at 18A, and active PFC.
make sure your motherboard has a 24pin connector though. that could be an issue. i think 20pins are forward compatible but 24-pins arent backward compatible.
