Hi im new, had a topic up earlier that wasnt getting great response so thought i would change to a more suitable section of the forum :).

Im really new to gaming computers and was wondering, for £450-£500 what computer/things would i need for a decent/good gaming computer, and where would i get it? I play minecraft, WoW, Skyrim and SWtOR.

thanks :)

Build one, a 500 pound pc is a pretty great gamer, when you build one. Go to dell, hp, etc. get a low quality piece of junk that cant game. Building a PC is easy, and takes 3 hours at the most, 2 hours normally for a first timer.
CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-404-IN

Case: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=7Choose any ATX case, (not mATX or micro ATX) and tell us, as there are some bad eggs, but normally antec, Cooler master, and corsair are good.

Power: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-032-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084 I dont know what is overkill, or more than enogh but this will deffinatly be enough for now.

Motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-514-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261 Nice, using the most recent chipset.

Ram: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-307-CS Fast, and good brand, and, 8 GB is enough for a while

HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-379-WD Its big, good brand, and 7200 rpm, and 64 MB of cache, and the new sata 3 6 GBps.

GPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-299-SP Great GPU.

OS: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-127-MS Windows, compatible with all games give or take 5.

Total 790 pounds, depends on case, but this is with 70 pound case
Sorry for money, somebody can say how to make it cheaper, but this is a beast.

yeah the first one you said is better, but how am i going to cut the cost? if it isnt possible then ill have to split the cost with my parents and do some work :p

Updated! You dont completly need a i5 for gaming, but its nice.

Case: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-CS&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=1489 Updated! Great case, and 50 pounds only. By far the best case over the one you chose and vista.

Power: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-055-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1098 Updated! Not to much headroom for upgrades, but it is enough for now and a couple small upgrades, like a additional hard drive, or better cpu, or slightly better gpu.

Motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-483-AS UPDATED! Very simaler to the old choice, just slightly older and less features that dont matter to much unless you want to use more than 1 gpu.

Ram: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-098-KS Updated! Highly reccomended by motherboards.org

HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-252-SE Updated! Smaller, but if you need the extra 15 pounds, here.

GPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-299-SP Awesome GPU. Or, if you really need the money, you wont have a beast any more: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-168-MS

OS: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=SW-127-MS Windows, compatible with all games give or take 5.

Total 642 pounds or 562 with lower GPU.

Get the Sharkroon T9 case and you'll save about £15 right there. Go to 4GB of RAM and you'll save another £20. That's a £35 saving right there...

Case http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/t9value-green.html (green LEDs) http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/t9value-red.html (red LEDs)
RAM http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...dr3-pc3-12800/1600mhz/f3-12800cl9d-4gbxl.html

One thing I forgot to mention - before you get that board, make sure the BIOS is updated to the latest version so that you can run that Sandy Bridge i3 on that Z77 motherboard without any issues. It may be easier to go for an older board for the Sandy Bridge chip, such as this http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...el1155z68chipsetmotherboards/ga-z68ap-d3.html the i3 will work out of the box with that board.

My build was cheaper and had a better hard drive, processor and memory. I agree on the Carbide 300R though, awesome case. Too bad Novatech don't stock it. :(

Byte's build is pretty good. The CX 600 would be a better PSU than the ZS 550 though, and only 1333MHz RAM? You want the 1600MHz RipJaws-X I used. :D It's not much more.

Do notget any other case except the cm haf case.
I don't know what it is with you and cases, but for the money, the T9 is a pretty decent case. Yes, a 300R is a better part and yes I'd recommend a 300R over the T9 any day of the week, but that doesn't mean to say the T9 is a bad case. You can do pretty good cable management with the T9, see here! http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...alue-case/sharkoon-t9-value-case_install2.jpg

Try agian, the links are working for me. Also, the corsair cx series are not all that great, unlike most corsairs, and the OCZ is cheaper, and just as good, if not better because of 80 plus bronze.

Get this GPU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-168-MS, this RAM http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS and this hard drive http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/...utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=VigLink+Inc

Would you rather buy from Overclockers or from Novatech? I use Novatech myself, never had a problem with them, but I'm sure Overclockers are just as good.

The CX series are fine, but then again I use an OCZ ZS 650 myself and it's also fine... get either or whichever is cheaper.
