Howdy all,
I pulled an old desktop case out of my cupboard, and Im thinking of modding it.

Id rather it if costs were kept to a minimum, but heres some pictures of what i have to play with:

The grey plastic bit comes off, as does the white plastic on the front.

The case is a little buckled, but it can be bent back pretty good.

And here is all the parts.

(BTW, sorry about the pics, i really need a new camera)

Anyway, i was thinking of a 120x80mm window in one side, and a blue 80mm fan on the other.

I was going to paint the metal part of the case black, but im not sure what to do with the front.

Any suggestions?

Take all the plastic and side panels off, leave only the frame, cut it till its like a skeleton, cut the fan grills open, sand it down, paint it flat black, cut some acrylic for the panels, put 4 blue cold UV lights on the top 4 sides, then put a big UV reactive decal on the top acrylic panel... lol

Yeah, thats the sorta lines i was going to go along.

Heres a quick plans for the acrylic panel:

Please excuse my drawing, i cant really do it in photoshop, im more a car modder on it :P

Theres been a change of plan! Due to the fact that a PSU for this is £30, im going to try and get a different case to mod, but the plans will be the same.

Cheers!

Oh.. anyway, heres what I was thinking of:

That glowing thingy is suposed to be a UV decal saying Intel Inside, but yeah.

The problem with doing that is theres clips on the side of the metal casing to keep the "Tray" with all the components held inside the case. It slides in from behind.

hmmm, i really like 34erd's idea, i think it looks really cool and could be great. perhaps you could try keeping in the bare minimal amount of metal you can, like those clip bits you said.... or is that going all the way round the case??

eww yecch.... gagway.... my grandpa has one of those and it is unstable as hell! but anyway, I like 34erd's idea, except make it a VIA EPIA decal. the Epia is the best proc that will go in there w/o overheating.
