i would just get 1 gig if your doing gaming it should be enough. but is this for gaming or for something else. the videocards good but if you have the money get the 6800 GT or the 7800 GT or 7800 GTX they will play most of the high demanding games out there at high settings and so will the 6600 gt but with a little lagging

I had a very similar wish (the 2 GB ram) and I have been convinced to go down to 1GB and get the 7800, i suggest you do the same, you can always buy more ram later, getting a whole new videocard is gonna cost more.

If you don't have the money for the 6800GT or higher, go with an x800 or bettwer yet an x800pro. These cards are excellent and can beat the 6800GTs performance with a little overclocking. I'm not sure how far the 6800GT overclocks but I know that the x800pro OCs very well and I've seen that the normal x800 can do a good job. The normal x800 is about on par with the 6600gt but its more expensive so if you can't afford to go higher than the 6600gt, keep that. In order of what you should upgrade to if you can afford it... x800pro or 6800GT (doesn't matter), x850pro, x800xt, 7800GT, and the holy grail>>*(7800GTX or x1800xt (similar performance))*
That list may be a bit inaccurate as I was going by memory.

I will have to agree with everyone else, get 1gb of ram and get yourself a 7800gt. 2gb of ram is an overkill!

I would say look at the nvidia 6800 series or ati's x800's, I mean the newest cards are always nice but if you want to spend around a grand, why make half of that just for your video card? And there's enough difference from the 6600's that it would be worth spending more for the ones mentioned above. You should be fine with 1 Gig of memory like everyone else has said, but keep room to expand it later obviously.

well.. a 7800GTX will play all the games to come for the next half year on highest settings.. while my 6800GT cant fun FEAR on that settings anymore.

the 7800GTX is worth its monney, and i would go for a 7800 series card.
because the 6800GT is already 8+ months released..

anyway,.. you might want to consider buying a 3000+ venice processor, and overclock it. 1Gb if RAM is enough atm, ( and you can upgrade to 2Gb really easy then). and with the monney you save, you can get a 7800 series card.
