Move Users Directory to HDD from SSD

Hi, I am trying to follow this tip for how to move your Users Directory to a separate hard drive:

http://lifehacker.com/5467758/move-the-users-directory-in-windows-7

I boot from the Windows 7 disk (upgrade disk), I follow all the steps, but when I get to the point where I am supposed to click "Recovery Tools" making sure Windows 7 is highlighted in the list box, there is nothing there. There is a note that says if your operating system is not in the box, browse to install the drivers.

I don't know what I am supposed to do with this as it is looking for a specific installation file, but for what, the driver for the hard drives? Which one?

While I'm searching for the driver installation files, which I can't find, I note the letter for the source and destination drives I want to move the Users folder. When I click next and go to the command prompt, I follow the robocopy command line from the webpage, and I immediately see it copying a long list of files and things.

At the end, it says that 4 files failed to copy. If I restart the computer and boot the computer up normally to see if it worked, there is no copy of the Users folder on the destination drive.

Has anyone ever done this before? Do you know what I am doing wrong, and is there another way (freeware) that can do this for me?

Update on this:

I went back into my file system and deleted the specific folders that were not allowing the rmdir comand to delete the original Users folder. They were associated with Google Drive and Real Player, so no biggie. I then went back into recovery tools (not from the boot disk) on restart and followed the procedure. Everything went fine, and when I browse my computer through the boot disk, I can clearly see the simlink and it links to the folder on the other drive. Now the problem is when I boot my computer normally. I can't log into my user profile. It give me an error along the lines of "the specified user is unavailable" (paraphrasing) and then it logs me out.

What is going on? It is like it is not recognizing the simlink. If I robocopy the User folder back to the original disk, I can get back in. What do I need to do to make the simlink work?
