Major random slowdown issue.

Ok, so on three slots, in no time I got 16 errors, this makes no sense. How can it get more errors than before while eliminating the potential problems?

Ok, finally made some real progress. I eventually removed a stick from the third slot and had the other three up and running. I ran memtest for a while and went to sleep, came back the next day to check it and the test had run for 14 hours and no errors occured! So it seems the third slot was causing the errors, and I noticed something about it also, it had a little speck of fluff down in the slot, so I removed that and I am running all four sticks again to see if an error still happens, whether it was the speck or the slot is shot, either way the problem was happening in that slot.
Thanks, I never would have gotten this far without a point towards the memtest software.

So of course try with all slots filled, does it still happen? Also if not try with just 3 slots. If that makes it work I guess we have figured out the issue?

I hope all is solved and I know the finicky nature of computers. I also know with greater stress more likely for problem to exhibit/present. But find strange so isolated for you?

Good luck!

Well, removing the speck appears to have stopped errors happening in memtest, but running on all four or just the three slots and my slowdowns are still happening. I am creating backup files to ready for a reformat, I will get back with you guys.

Well, the problem appears to have gone away now that I reformatted, so it must have been a software problem. I just played for about 1.5 hours and no slowdowns occured, so it looks good so far. Thank you loads for your time John.
