Mac OSX Panther, First Time Mac User

OK, I got it, I haven't met this situation when I install Mac OS 10.62, everything goes well when I install it, but when I restart to access the system, 5 languages appear and what the hell it is!

That would be called a Kernel Panic. Also if you Mac is older and runs off of PPC hardware you cannot run 10.6.x. It does not support PPC only Intel based Macs. The best you could run would be 10.5.x.

Could i purchase a used hard drive off of craigslist that is reformatted or would i have to buy a brand new one?

on the update:
opened the case hard drive is a 80gig and checked the connection to be good, kinda thinking it might be the ide connector as well.

Try reseating the hard drive you already have and then see if the computer recognizes it, before you buy a new one. It happens with macs. Also, if you buy a new one make sure it is IDE or SATA. You mentioned in your last post an IDE. Get the right one. Try and get at least 10.4.x, or 10.5x, but don't buy 10.6, as your processor is not Intel.
Sometimes Macs won't recognize the OS or, worse, the hard drive. If you try to start the machine, you'll probably see a little square with a question mark in it. Is that why you are re-installing? Again, reseat the drive before you buy a new one.

Yeah i tried resetting the cable from the hard drive to the laptop motherboard, I still received a kernal panic, with the flashing folder when trying to boot. After I tried with two different osx's to read the hard drive and still nothing. I just ordered the hard drive i just hope its not the connector between the hard drive and the motherboard that is bad.

And thank you lubolat, and everyone else for your contributions its greatly appreciated.
