:D may hinder marketing

Whats vista mean?, doesnt sound like much of a name for an OS.
Well its as good as XP, Fedora, Mandrake or the ingenious Mac OS X

vis·ta pronunciation
n.

1.
a. A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees.
b. An avenue or other passage affording such a view.
2. An awareness of a range of time, events, or subjects; a broad mental view: “the deep and sweeping vistas these pioneering critics opened up” (Arthur C. Danto).

[Italian, from feminine past participle of vedere, to see, from Latin vidēre.]

Hmmm, i supose thats as good as any. Windows Vista, sounds good. I suppos they can start marketing it now cant they, expect to see the first advert soon.

haha

Is this for real? I personally do not like the name at all. It simply does not really go with the word Windows that well. However, that's not what counts. It's the performance and features of the OS that do.

JAN :D

now all we need to know is how much this is gonna cost when it first comes out.

Imagine all the updates there will be for it within the first week. lol

It will probably be loaded with bugs and security holes, like xp was when it first came out. I would expect service pack 1, 2 , and 3. Microsoft Vista (vitual information system, something something.) fill in the rest.

I would expect service pack 1, 2 , and 3.

They are getting better at it (although, it takes them long enough), Windows NT wasn't tolerable until service pack 4, and went up to service pack 6a, then stopped. Windows 2000 wasn't tolerable until service pack 1, and has pretty much stopped at service pack 4. Windows XP was tolerable on release and will probably stop at 2 or maybe 3. So, they are getting better as time goes along, for what that's worth...

Nothing like we habvent already experienced with XP, yes there will be quite a few, nothing can be perfect from JUST testing it in computer labs, its a lot different out in the real world. Im sure MS will cope fine, Win XP is doing fine for me now so i might not get the full/final version just yet, although do have the BETA version.

They should just trash the name Windows and come up with something else like.....I done know something cool like, Xycose or something. Hey thats a pretty cool word actully Xycose. mmm or what about ...um....Ok so that was the only good one....

I like the new name. And if BSOD will be renamed too, it will be called "Hasta la VISTA, baby!" :P
