Latitude D520 Graphics

:D There you go! Never aim small. :good:

I've never had the chance to go up in one myself, but I have been in the cockpit and under one when it landed.

That is a very limited graphics processor. It does not have the capability to run many 3D games. Some very simple ones may run just fine, but then you are looking back to games from the mid-late 90's as well.

Hey now, not that old :P

With my Asus EEE 900HA I know exactly what it's like to deal with an intel GMA 950, but it doesn't mean I don't push the bastard :P

Some games that work nicely on it are Flatout 2, Oldblivion, Morrowind, halo, FEAR, Flight sims 2004 and earlier. I also think theres a way to get source games working on it as well...

What?? :D FEAR? Oblivion (I actually hadn't heard of Oldblivion before)? Wow...what frame rates are you seeing on that thing?

Ha ha - Oblivion on a GMA 950... That's like getting a 600lb woman to ride a unicycle...uphill. Possible but painful.

Haha, Oldblivion is a mod which tunes down the graphics of Oblivion, making it possible to play Oblivion on a crap video processor such as this. FEAR runs great and medium-low settings with shadows off.

If you don't believe me i have youtube vids to back it up :P

I believe you. After I saw Oldblivion in your post, I had to look it up. I am impressed. :D

Thank you for chiming in here. Perhaps it will give some hope to CAPcadet. It may not look pretty, but it will run!

How could I turn down the 3D settings on games without opening the game itself?
I already tried -dxlevel 70 with Gmod

In some cases, you can launch the game via a special command line, run the game's configuration editor if it has one, or as was mentioned earlier, use a special third party utility/mod like Oldblivion (for modifying Oblivion).

But I would have to look it up on a game by game basis? :P
Haha, alright, I will just play them on my desktop, this is getting confusing for me (I consider myself a computer geek, just to lazy to do this, lol)
Thanks again everyone!

Thats pretty cool... wait... under the cockpit? Get run over by a plane? :P

Huh...yeah, that was worded rather awkwardly. :o

I have been in the cockpit of a C-130 but have not had the pleasure to pilot or fly in one. I have actually been just off the end of a runway when one has landed (once driving too). There is a bit of a rush when such a huge bird comes in just a hundred feet (or less!) over your head...and not just an adrenaline rush. You can feel them.

Ha ha - that's the spirit!:D Yeah, it will be on a game by game basis. You should be able to use that laptop well for other tasks. It will not be the best gaming machine, but as Speedyink pointed out, it is possible. :good:

Hahaha, thats awesome, I am actually kinda jealous
I am hoping through CAP I can get a ride in a C-130, but idk how likely that is :P

Alright, I will try for at least one game I guess, but what other tasks where you reffering to?

Thanks I will try -dxlevel 80!

:) You'll never know until you pursue it.

I was just thinking of using it like any other computer for browsing the web, writing, things like that. Perhaps some other casual games.
