Is it time to say goodbye, my old friend?

Hi

Here's the problem. Sometimes, whenever I turn on my sexy beast of a computer, I get a message, a Nvidia message stating that the GPU in my system has been altered to suit my power supply. It says something along the lines of, "your power supply cannot supply the recommended voltage for your GPU, your GPU has been altered to suit the power supply to avoid damage yada yada yada". I have a 400wt PS, with 18 Amps on the 12 volt line. See my comp specs in my signature for more details.

thanks

*looks* oops, sorry :-/ it was there at some stage. Anyway..

CPU AMD athlon 64 3000+
Nvidia 6800GS
RAM 1.5 GB
2 Hard drives, running at 7400 RPM
2 optical drives

That's enough, right? they all draw from the PS anyway.

Thanks, and thanks for notifying me Bobo

A 6800GS should be ok with 400W, unless you have bad amperage. What are the ratings on the PSU? (or the model)

Hehe

Do you have the power cord plugged into the card? That could be your problem rather than the PSU :P

JAN :D

If you have a voltmeter, see what voltages the power cord is giving the graphics card. The PSU might not be giving it stable voltages, causing those messages.

Also, what are the amperage ratings for your PSU?
