Internet explorer Browser freezes

For the last few days my homepage of my internet explorer freezes.
Could you please tell me what is going on and how to fix this problem.

I will try but before I do, wouldn't my AVG antivirus pick up anything?

it could be a virus or spyware (the stuff that loads onto your computer from programs like kazaa or going to porn sites or free stuff sties). And not all virus's can be detected.

Tell us what you have for a comp... memory, cpu, operating system, ect.

It won't pick up most spyware\adware, no.

Hi,
Sorry I did not come back. I downloaded the links from Ad-Aware SE, and SpyBot and nothing came up (re: viruses). When I went to reboot on F8 it did not bring me to safe mode. By this time I was tired as I live half way across the world from you guys and went to bed. I may continue today from where I left off.
