i need more power!

My system is a pentium D 930, xfx nvidia 6800xt video card, wd caviar se 200gb hard drive, 1 gig corsair ddr2 ram, liteon dvd rw and lg dvd rom. The first power supply that came with the case worked for a little bit then the hard drive wouldn't power up. I ordered a new power supply and now everything but the video card is working. the new power supply is a tagan tg-480 480 watt, dual +12v. is there any way that i can get some more power to get the video card running or am i going to have to buy another new power supply?
 
The 6800xt runs JUST on a 480 watt. Go get yourself a 550 or 600..or is money is no limit get a 900 watt..
 
what?! no way a 6800xt needs 480 watt. I have my antec 500watt and its plenty of power for my system. And i have a better graphics card. btw, how many amps on that dual 12v+ rails?
 
the dual +12v are 40 amps (20 amps each)... i bought an Aerocool zerodba 620 watt which i think will fix the problem.. third try's the charm right

The 480W should run a 6800 just fine.
 
thats really wierd...i had a 350 watt missing the 4 out of 24pin (old power supply, it gave me like 11.45v out of 12) and it ran my comp just fine. I have about the same setup, except the CPU and stuff.
 
well i guess if the new power supply doesn't fix it i'll just have to return a bunch of parts to newegg and make sure they are all working right

sometimes they do, but it's not good for the system as its not getting enough power
