Can sombody please tell me how to take a screenshot on windows 98 and xp. Also mention where to pick up the picture. I've done it in games before and have always wondered how to do it. Thx for any help

the clip board is the place that item go to when you click copy or patse (you will often do this using a word editing package or something similar). After you have pressed print screen button, sometimes it looks like a button saying PrtSc, you can access the screen shots by going to a image package (MSPAINT for example) and selecting Edit -> Paste (or pressing Ctrl + V)

try to hold Alt and then press PrintScreen, this will result in copying on the active window that is being displayed.
and then paste it normally on mspaint, or ant other image or word editor.

Step 1: push PrintScreen (above the insert button)

Step 2: Open paint .. click start -> programs -> accessories -> paint

Step 3: push ctrl + v

Step 4: crop your image. I crop what I want to show -> cut it -> open new -> paste it. Crop only what you want to keep

Step 5: save as jpeg

Step 6: Host the jpeg here: http://imageshack.us/

Hope that helps :)

Step 1: push ctrl + PrintScreen (above the insert button)

Evil Xp step 1

Push Print Screen And insert into paint

I think if your keyboard has an F-Lock button, then you need that to be disabled, and you have to press Ctrl+PrintScreen, then press Ctrl+V into paint or word.

I know this is a few days old, but I can't find print screen. I tired holding alt, and ctrl, and all that stuff. But I can't find it.

Taking screenshots 101:

PC(Win XP, possibly NT and/or 2000):

1. Press Ctrl + Print Screen (Labeled "Print Scrn" on most keyboards. It's the key immediately above insert.)

2. Paste into ANY program accepting pictures.

3. Edit it according to program(crop, copy, new, paste, save, edit)

4. Do whatever you want with it. It's yours.

PC(Win 3.1 - ME, possibly NT and/or 2000):

1. Press Print Screen

2. Paste into ANY program accepting pictures.

3. Edit it according to program(crop, copy, new, paste, save, edit)

4. Do whatever you want with it. It's yours.

Macintosh:

1. Press Command + Shift + 3

2. Lokk in the currently opened Finder folder(typically Macintosh HD or whatever you call your hard drive if finder isn't the current program or there are no folders open)

3. Open Picture x. x being the number of times you took a screenshot on your Mac

4. Crop the part you want to keep in SimpleText.

5. Copy it (Command + C)

6. Paste it into your favorite image-editing program..

7. Do what you wish with it. It's yours.

Hope it helps. NOTE: I'm not sure about Windows XP because out of all the windows machines I own, the most recent version installed is Windows 98 SE.

hey man,

I cant take screenshots of the videos i watch on my computer.

be it in real player, winamp, media player classic, divx player.

i used to be able to just take screenshots by pressing printscreen and paste into photoshop or paint.

but now, when i do take a screen shot, the area where the video was showing is just black after i've saved it. hmm, could this be caused by codecs?
