How to properly apply AC5?

just not buy that, and get the Zalman STG-01 cooling paste instead? :P

but, clean the surfaces with weither alcohol, or (what I do) special cleaner for thermal paste removal. (Arcticlean ) when its clean, put a grain of rice sized (maybe a bit bigger) drop of the AS5 on the cpu, and put the heatsink on, turn the heatsing on the CPU in both directions a bit, so the AS5 can spread a bit over the whole surface of the CPU, and then fix the heatsink in place.

well.. imo its easyer said than done, hence I use the Zalman paste, wich comes in a bottle that looks like nail polish, you jsut pain the whole surface of the CPU, put on the heatsink and done. (and my temps are lower with the zalman paste as they are with the AS5 :) granted, only 1 degree, but still :o

wow, nice message here from the link.

Important: Keep the surfaces free of foreign materials and do NOT touch the surfaces, a hair, piece of lint, and even dead skin cells can significantly affect the thermal interfaces performance. In addition, oils from your fingers can adversely affect the performance by preventing the micronized silver fill from directly contacting the metal surfaces.

do u put the same rice sized amount for a dual core processor? I have an AMD 5200 X2 that I am putting in tonight.

You love that stuff don't you? :P

To put AS5 on I just stick a blob on the middle of the CPU heatspreader, put the heatsink on and give it a little bit of back and forth twist (not very much, more of a back and forth giggle really :P) then fasten it down.

Thanks, I've just put t on, my temps are a little better, but I guess I need to wait for it to set in, my load temps now 50 instead of 56c.
