How Long have Pentium 4 Processors Been Around?

Pretty sure it was the end of 2000 or the very first of 2001. Think the first ones were like 1.3 or 1.4ghz. Just a guess from memory so dont quote me on that.
 
^ Sounds about right. I remember getting a P4 @ 2.4 late 2002 and thinking 'sweet!'. With the advancement being what it is/was, that time frame is accurate.

And then I got one that (seems to have a dual-core because it shows up twice in the device manager) ran at about 3.6 Ghz. Boy it's nice and fast! Git it in about 1003 or 2004 I believe.

My wife needed a new CPU and Newegg was having a sale on E4500's at the time. She wouldn't have had any need whatsoever for it, so getting it for myself and giving her Big D was in order. Still overkill for what she uses her desktop for, but she likes it.

For the life of me, I can't recall, but did CPUs with HT show up twice?
 
The Pentium 4 was first introduced on November 20th, 2000.

It was funny, I don't remember what version of CS I was playing but I am sure it was old lol.

Keen. I'm sure I've seen that screen dozens of times with HT, but it must have never registered:)
 
ahh the p4s.....good processors.

My uncle has Cedar mill P4 with HT and its quite fast at 3Ghz.
 
Look at us. Some of us are confused with Pentium 4 models and their features. Dang you Intel! :) Ditch the Pentium 4 name already.

In seven or eight years you will be laughing at the processing power of your current quad core processor.

I hope to keep my current computer running until at least 2011 or maybe a year longer. I prefer to use the computers I buy around 42 months before buying a new one. The motherboard of my current system may not last that long as I question the manufacturing quality.
