I took this fan out of my old computer a LONG time ago and just found it and i wanted to put it in my brothers old computer but i don't know how to hook it up. I don't see any place to plug it in at all but here's a picture-

Well is it possible that there is only 1 3 pin motherboard connection and it's for the fan that is already in there because there IS only one and the fan that is already in their is plugged into it. There is something else on the motherboard that is a little white 3 pin plug but the fan plug doesn't fit in it. Why would they have a vent in the back with holes for screws when they don't have another connector for a new fan?

Most motherboards have a min. of two fan headders, but I guess some could only have one...

It's not hard to mod those fans to work off a molex power connection. I'd have to double check the wiring, but I think the red is 12v. Black should be ground, and the other should be for RPMs(which isn't needed)

you can either modify the wiring into one of your 12v lines directly or you can get / fabricate an agapter. Just remember that the red is 12v....reversing it on a fan will only make the fan go the opposite direction, but also shorten it's life. I'll look through my collection of connectors here and see if I can't find and pic a modded 12v 4 pin to 3.

The one that is plugged into the port has red, black, and blue wires and the fan that i'm trying to get to work has red, black, and white wires.

Are you saying i can splice the red and black wires from the new fan into the old one and just leave the white and blue wires untouched/spliced?

the red is 12v....reversing it on a fan will only make the fan go the opposite direction

WRONG. Fans these days have backwards rotation protection, it keeps the fan from rotating backwards when polarity is reversed.
