Help with overclocking my x2 6000+ 3.1ghz

Since your just starting out. Go like 5 mhz at a time, let it run for awhile if it seems fine go another 5 mhz. Since its a 3.1ghz you should be able to get to 3.3/200mhz increase without bumping up the voltage, like I said should they are all a little different. It might have a pretty low default voltage to put it in the 89W class.

Edit. Yours has a 15.5 X so just try like 2 or 3 mhz. at a time. You only need to get to a bus of 213 to get to 3.3ghz.

Ok heres what I did I changed the ram to 667 or whatever it was, and the HT to 800 (from auto). I set the bus to 220, windows didn't start up. I set it to 210, started up but was REALLY SLOW and freezing when I logged in. I'll try 205 now.

Cant jump up that far at a time. Since your X is 15.5 it jumps up that much ever 1 mhz of bus speed. Every 1 mhz. you raise your bus the processor goes up 15.5 mhz.

206 now and stable idle temp @ 30'C 3.193 ghz

My HT and ram things are lower tho cause I lowered them like you said isnt this a bad thing

No its fine, the HT bandwidth isnt anywhere near being used up, plus as you raise the bus they start going back up to.

What voltage does that one default to?

You can lower the CPU X so you can get the bus higher so the HT and Memory speed get closer to default. Your Memory and HT will increase by 4 for every 1 mhz of bus speed.

1.4 V atm

Are lower multipliers (considering if you have the same speed after its multplied) worse than faster ones or is there no difference?

I could reduce the multiplier and raise the bus but wouldnt I have to increase the V then?

I really don't know what to do :(

I'm thinking of changing X to 12.5 and bus to 256 then I get 1014 HT from 1000 but what V do i need for that.

I'd only get 3.2 ghz with it though I want 3.3 at least.

So the CPU is running a 1.4 volts? Seems kinda high for a 65nm.

I have mine running at 3.3ghz. with 1.35 voltage, with the HT set to X4, with a X of 14 and the bus at 236 mhz. I left my memory at 800 because my memory is DDR2 1066 so I didnt have to worry about overclocking it. Thought your CPU would be more like 1.25 or 1.30V at default.

well acodring to CPUz its 1.45 but core temp says 1.4

What should I do now? -_-' I could try 12.5 x 255 to get a speed close to mine but I don't know if I need a diff voltage for that?

I want 3.3 or 3.4 tho

Just thinking about your temps regarding your CPU voltage. Since AMDs dont use the FSB it doesnt really matter if the X is higher or the bus speed. But a higher bus speed does get your memory back up to its default. But the speed difference between 677 and 800 is hardly any.

I would set your bus to 213. Set your HT to X4. Set your memory to 677. And manually set your CPU voltage to 1.425. Leave the X set to 15.5. Boot and see what happens. Keep a eye on your CPU temps.

I said 1.425 because one place has it at 1.4 and another has 1.45. At first just dont go over 1.5

Trying to get you stable at 3.3 ghz. with voltage at first. Then after that if you want to try to get your HT and memory closer to stock you can play with lowering X and raising bus keeping it at 3.3ghz.

It works

Voltage was 1.4 so I made it 1.425 like you said increased bus to 213 and viola, 3.3ghz

thanks a lot man

time to play with multipliers and bus

temp is idle at 35, maybe I can push it to 3.5ghz but I have to see how much the temps go at full load since max is 62'C

Good to hear. Just run it for awhile and see how it goes. Later you can try alittle higher bus to see how far you can go, maybe with a little more bump in the voltage. At first just dont go over 1.5. And keep a eye on your CPU temp.

Ok what about making the memory default? That after I find a good voltage and speed?

I'm gonna try some cpu strain tests to see how much the temps go at full load. lol i dont know any ill just see when running 3dmark06 and the cpu test.

If you set your memory back to 800 it would be running at 426/852. 26 mhz. overclocked. You could give it a try. I would bump the memory voltage up one. Say if its default is 1.8V set it to 1.9V.

I'm gonna try and go for 3.5 and um get the memory to default with a V of 1.45 from 1.425

If the temps are too high ill go back to 1.425 and do what you think
