HDD Light Always On

My system has 2GB of RAM. HDD Lamp still lights on. It seems that I can't event turn off a computer when it is on. Cause I waited for a half an hour it still shows "Windows is shutting down". When I do restart and hdd lamp works normaly, then I can turn off. I will try to use windows 7.

Let me ask you this. Can you see the hdd light flicker at all or is it a constant on with no blinking? If its a constant on with no blinking then its possible that the hdd led cable from the case to the motherboard is connected backwards and just needs to be turned 180 degrees.

But yes, I highly recommend getting windows 7 proving your system can run it.

I installed windows 7. It was constant light. But now, im using computer for about an hour, everything looks fine. Thank you very much for your patient. I also would like to ask, maybe you can recommend me software that I need to use to avoid situation like this again?

Most likely the problem you had was a dual boot of 2 XP's. Plus the fact that you had a bunch of malware on your system. You just have to watch what you download and install. You don't need every toolbar you can find. Download and install a good antivirus such as Avast or MSE, prefer Avast though. Run that adaware cleaner program every so often as well as malwarebytes.

Thanks. Those toolbars are downloading with other programs. By default it usually been checked "Recommended installation" which includes those toolbars. Recently I noticed that. I won't make same mistakes. Thank you again.
