Google Talk - hmmm

what does google have that isnt in Beta? they like to keep thier programs/services in Beta indefinatly so if something goes wrong they can just say "well.. you are using a Beta product.. its not the release version.. what do you expect?"

but that looks cool, can you actually call ppl for free with that? i remember when you used to be able to call ppl of free on messenger..

I've used Gtalk briefly and so far i love it. It is plain but i like that. I hate when there is all kinds of crap popping out at you. It serves two purposes: IM client and VOIP. IMO, it does both well.

I assume its only good for gmail talk people, that use the same program? They need one that is interchangable, so msn, aim, icq people and all that can talk without having to have all these damn im things.

I know google always go the way of simplicity and it tends to work, but the gtalk service looks way too simple and not enough features to compete with yahoo and msn.
Also a case of where simplicity does not even look better.

Another one of these is Trillian

I use Trilian (am right now lol) and it's superb. Never had a problem with it.

GTalk is probably simple to fit ALL computers. Even those with 32MB RAM, 2MB vid card, 100MHz processors...i dunno. seems like if its simple more people can use it.

I'll give it a try i suppose.

interesting, can you actualy type a persons phone number and call, or is it a buddy list type thing like skype? I know my parents get Vonage VoIP phone service.

well im talking to my girlfriend right now , we both got it. this is definetly better than typing all the time.

only thing is shes got a REALLY nice mic and i can hear her if the mic is on the floor at her feet. but i have to practically hold mine to my mouth. i'll be getting a new one soon. i love it! :) hehe

who care about features.
