Good for gaming?

Yeah 2 gigs is about the average now a days. You can get by with one playing games and stuff, but i doubt that would be the case with vista

no, only the 8 series will run DX10, but they are a lot more money

also keep in mind you need an operating system

Ok, thanks everyone!
And also, what should I get for my OS, Vista or XP?
Can you play XP games on Vista too?
Yeah you can play xp games on vista just fine, most of them anyway. theres a thread here under general software with a list of vista comaptible software. If you get vista go ahead and get 64bit

reliability and safetywise go with XP. it wont die soon, and by the time it does, just upgrade to vista then, you can even do it without losing all your documents. also, dont get a DX10 card unless you plan to use vista.

Well, reliability and safety wise, which is better?
And will XP die out soon?

If your buying it go ahead and get vista, if you already had xp there would be no need in upgrading for another year or so. So if it was me and i had to buy an os i would just go ahead and get vista 64bit. Dx10 only works on vista right now

vista64 bit? why on earth would he need 64bit? just another headache to add to the driver hunt! he isnt even planning on use 4gb of ram
